"MAHARLIKA CHARITY FOUNDATION, INC.,
TRAILBLAZER OF OUTREACH MISSIONS IN MINDANAO"

Mindanao is an island in the Philippines endowed with rich natural resources and a population of 16 million composed of Christian migrants, indigenous tribes and ethno linguistic Moslem groups. But for the past 4 decades, it has been beleaguered by an on going conflict of religious, ideological and cultural nature. Saddled by an ailing economy, it has health needs that the government has not fully addressed.

Hospitals without walls

The present health care system of the country is for the majority of patients living within the urban and surrounding environs. For those in the peripheral areas and remote places, the health care system is inadequate and even non-existent.

Maharlika Charity Foundation’s program of outreach missions extend to these areas with its team of volunteer doctors and nurses to care for the needs of the marginalized Filipinos and tribal communities. Medical specialists volunteer their time and skills to operate on cataract, harelip, hernias, hydroceles, and tumors on beneficiaries in situations wanting in the amenities that urban medical centers can offer.
